CO power

From Advance Wars Wiki

A CO power is an abilitie which most COs in the Advance Wars series have. They can have a variety of effects, from causing mass damage, to spawning units. As of such they can often change the tide of the battle. With each Advance Wars series slight modifications have been made to CO powers, though the principal remains the same in all. Each time a player attacks with a Unit, or a Unit is attacked, they gain a small amount of Star power, which fills a bar. Once the bar is full then the players may use their COs CO power.

[edit] Normal CO powers

The most basic CO powers and the only kind which feature in every game. Though as mentioned above, even these vary from game to game.

[edit] Super CO powers

Featuring in Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising and Advance Wars: Dual Strike, the Super CO Power is a stronger version of the Original Power. Old characters from the orignal Advance kept their CO powers as well as gaining a Super CO power. Though some such as Sturm's and Eagle's original CO powers were made into their Super CO, while they were given a weaker normal CO power (Or in Sturm's case nothing at all).

[edit] Tag Power/Dual Strike

Introduced with Advance Wars: Dual Strike, a Tag Power (Or Dual Strike as it's sometimes called) is when two allied CO's both can perform their Super CO power and use them at the same time (With a special option appearing). A Tag Power causes both their Super CO powers to occur, as well as allowing the units to move again. Certain CO's who have connections with each other have special Tag Powers. Von Bolt if a tag power is used with him and if it is a dual strike it only  is 90% normally it is 100%

[edit] Days of Ruin

The CO powers in Advance Wars: Days of Ruin have been revamped. CO powers no longer have as powerful an effect on combat (with some COs eschewing CO powers altogether) and they can now only be charged within a certain radius of a CO unit (the CO zone). According to the developers, this change was made to put more emphasis on strategy, rather than on winning solely with a CO's abilities.
