Hachi (Japanese: ハチ Hachi) is an Orange Star CO. He is Orange Star's former commander in chief, and is stated in the game to be a former student of Sensei, just like Kanbei was. He is also the keeper of the Battle Maps shop in Advance Wars, Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising, and Advance Wars: Dual Strike. He gets a discount on all units, but unlike Colin's, his units have normal firepower. He has no real weaknesses. He is also extremely gossipy and may give you hints about the game in exchange for you buying his merchandise. If you clean him out, though, he won't give you anything.

Merchant Union - Creates ground units from any City under Hachi's control. Hachi also receives a 50% discount on all Units of their original price. (Union regulations and all that).

Tactics[]
Hachi is a broken CO in nearly every way, and is arguably one of the best CO's in the entire series.
- In pre-deployed maps where there are no factories (like numerous Hard Campaign missions), he can deploy units in cities, unlike other CO's.
- On maps with relatively low funding (such as in competitive play), he has access to high-cost units that the opponent does not.
- On maps with relatively high funding, he has more opportunities than ever to invest in whatever units he wants.
- He lacks a firepower boost in the conventional sense, but him being able to deploy Bombers and Neotanks (or anything) with ease gives him firepower superiority.
- His day to day abilities giving him a discount lets him often be the first player to afford a Tank early on.
- He has no weaknesses.
- His CO Power, for only 3 stars, doubles your purchasing value. (Though for just 2 stars more, you can get something better).
- His power meter is one of the shortest in the game, yet his Super CO Power provides lots of utility.
- Being able to deploy units in cities means you can essentially fortify your army any region of the map. You can also flood all of your cities with Infantry and/or Mech to increase your unit count, which is very important.
- Dual Strike adding Black Bombs mean that Hachi can spam this unit to inflict non-battle damage to the opponent, especially ones that have stat boost or are expensive to use.
- For Dual Strike, he is considered to be the best Tag partner in the game due to his low cost purchases and versatility in the early game. Alternatively, due to a short 3 star COP and 5 star SCOP, he can also quickly fill the gauge for a Tag break. Select him first in the Tag Break, and the opponent next turn can destroy the opponent.
- Using Skills in Dual Strike further augments his usefulness. He is most effective when used with Gold Rush, Sale Price, and Fire Sale, as these enable him to receive 10% more funds and purchase units at 77% price, or only 37% when CO powers are used. This means he can effectively produce 43% more units day-to-day and 2.7x as many during his CO power. Because he can produce units in cities during Super CO, he can save a slot to use.
- Tag Break with Sensei can mass produce units on the field, while recovering money if merging units.
Keep in mind that Hachi isn't always an instant-win. Certain COs can still give him trouble:
- Sturm rushing Hachi before he even gets a chance to capture cities, thanks to his terrain ignoring movement. Additionally, Meteor Strike aiming for the most expensive tiles null Hachi's offense.
- Sensei spamming his CO Power will still produce more units than Hachi.
- In Advance Wars 2, Kanbei's 130/130 stats is hard to penetrate; it is value per unit versus numbers.
- Colin can still produce more money in the early run. In Tag Battles, Colin can switch over to the partner to inflict damage.
- Sasha can force Hachi to use his CO Power instead of his Super CO Power due to her Market Crash draining Star Power.
